Statement: Kids2 recalls nearly 700,000 rocking sleepers after infant deaths

Kids2 recalled about 694,000 rocking infant sleepers on Friday after five deaths were reported. This alert comes just two weeks after Fisher Price recalled 4.7 million Rock n’Play baby sleepers, which had been linked to 30 infant deaths in the decade since they were introduced. Some of the babies died when they rolled over while unrestrained in the sleeper.

Statement: ‘Green Bus Act’ will drive healthier communities

 

The “Green Bus Act” (H.R. 2164), introduced earlier this month by U.S. Rep. Julia Brownley from California, would increase federal funding available for the purchase of zero-emissions buses over the next ten years and require that all buses purchased with federal funds be zero-emissions by 2029.

Oklahoma’s new “ban on bans” hinders efforts to solve plastic pollution

Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt signed a “preemption law” yesterday, banning cities and towns from banning or placing a fee on plastic or other forms of containers. The law will also undo a recent effort in Norman, Oklahoma, to put a 5-cent tax on single-use plastic bags.

Several states are just steps away from banning foam containers

Environment America and U.S. PIRG are working in states across the country to pass bans on foam containers, which is among the most harmful forms of single-use plastic. Banning polystyrene, commonly known as Styrofoam, is one of several policies the organizations’ Wildlife Over Waste and Beyond Plastic campaigns are pushing to tackle the plastic pollution crisis.
